Ralph Overstreet attended Elgin Watch College, graduating in 1941. He used his first paycheck to marry his first and only love, Belle Little, from northwest Arkansas. Their oldest son, Don, was born in Elgin. Ralph served with the navy Seabees in the South Pacific and Occupied Japan during World War II. In 1948, they brought Don and their new son, Fred, to Bentonville Arkansas. They opened Overstreet’s Jewelry together on the north side of the downtown Square. Ralph began repairing watches and clocks while Belle kept the books. Their third son, Jim, was born here.
Over the years, the store’s product line grew into diamonds, jewelry, and design. In 1977, Don joined the family business. The store gradually moved west over the years, but always on the north side of the Square. In 1994, Ralph’s grandson made it three generations when he joined the store. Today, you’ll find Ralph still repairing watches, Don lending his extensive jewelry and diamond knowledge to people looking for the perfect gift, and Doug designing beautiful jewelry.
Overstreet’s Jewelry remains a tradition of love, family, and making beautiful memories together. We hope that’s the story you want your gift to tell. Let our jewelry help you mark a very special moment in time. Let Overstreet’s be your Memory Maker Store.
